pet core
DESCRIPTION:
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) foam is the most abundant polymer in the world and is the primary material for water and beverage bottles. PET is a thermoplastic and fully recyclable, compatible with Vacuum Infusion, Hand Layup/Spray, Prepreg, Adhesive Bonding, Thermoforming and other processing methods as it is thermally stable - during high temperature processing, there is no outgassing or expansion after post-cure. It is thermocuttable (via hotwire or laser) a fact that permits development of novel surfaces. It is also thermoformable, and thus can be preformed to specified shapes and dimensions without the need for scoring or segmentation. It is an open secret within the composites industry that it will be the core material of the future.
XTX PETCORE™ is a closed cell foam with very good mechanical properties. With our unique production process, our PETCORE™ comes with improved properties in the XYZ directions, allowing for better structural designs.
FEATURES:
XTX PETCORE™ foam production can include the incorporation, in part of recycled materials, (water and soda bottles) and is completely recyclable. PET foam is fatigue resistant and, in the event of fire, no toxic gases are generated.
XTX PETCORE™ is a closed-cell foam with very good mechanical properties. It is recyclable polymer foam with excellent price / performance ratio, with a focus on conserving natural resources.
XTX PETCORE™ resistance to fatigue is superior, as well as it’s chemically stability and UV resistance. Water absorption is minimal. During high temperature processing it is thermally stable and no outgassing or expansion after post-cure.
XTX PETCORE™ is a structural foam designed as a core material for a multitude of lightweight sandwich structures, and engineered to carry static and dynamic loads. It’s performance characteristics are superior, regardless of exposure to elevated temperatures during manufacturing.
Other features of XTX PETCORE include
·100% Recyclable material
·Very good impact resistance
·Easy processing with most types of lamination and resin methods
·High process temperature of up to 130 °C (266°F)
·Excellent fatigue strength
·Very low resin absorption
·Excellent thermal insulation properties
·Closed cell creates high resistance to chemicals and moisture
·Good laminate-to-core bond adhesion
·Great material property consistency
·Thermoplastic forming capabilities
